NEWS:
BA increases longhaul capacity

British Airways is adding more than 250,000 extra seats to long haul routes from the UK this summer.

The move is designed to meet demand from consumers seeking to fly further afield on holiday, according to the airline.

Destinations to receive additional flights or larger aircraft include South Africa, the US, Mexico, South America, the Middle East and Asia.

BA is to add 257,000 extra seats during the summer to places such as Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Cape Town, Mexico City, Nairobi, Buenos Aires and Dubai. For example, Cape Town will see capacity boosted by 18,000 extra seats with larger aircraft deployed on the route.

Frequency to Los Angeles will rise from 14 to 17 flights a week from Heathrow, Mexico City will get two additional flights a week, Dubai three, Hong Kong three, Nairobi three, Beijing two, New York, Toronto and Buenos Aires one each.

The new LA and Mexico flights start in July for the summer while the extra Toronto service starts in early May and runs until the end of September. The new Hong Kong flights will be year round, while other services will operate throughout the summer.
