An airline passenger has been arrested after trying to break into the cockpit of a commercial plane – to tell the captain to fly faster.
According to the Gulf Daily News, the incident took place on an Aeroasia flight from Dubai to Pakistan on Tuesday, in a week when Pakistan’s airports have been on a heightened state of security because of recent intelligence reports.
Pakistan’s information minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed is quoted as saying that the motivation of the unarmed passenger was not immediately clear, but he reportedly added: “He said he was trying to reach the pilot to ask him to fly faster.”
An intelligence official reportedly stated that the passenger, named as Majid Latif, had had an argument with the crew and then tried to approach the captain of the plane. He was reportedly searched but no weapons were found. |
