NEWS:
10% increase in passenger no. for BMI

The BMI group saw passenger numbers rise by more than 10% in May over the same month last year.


The collection of carriers flew 869,638 people during the month, an increase of 10.14%.


The rolling 12 month total to the end of May was 10.8 million against nine million for the year ending 31 May, 2003, a rise of 20%.


The biggest percentage growth was achieved by no frills subsidiary bmibaby which saw passenger numbers rise 11% in May to 274,144 compared to 246,761 in May 2003. The airline now serves 52 routes from eight UK airports.


Bmi's mainline, long haul and regional operations saw a 10% year on year  increase in passengers carried to 595,494 against 542,863.
