Hundreds of staff at Gatwick airport have voted in favour of industrial action and are set to strike on Saturday, according to reports.
According to the BBC News website, the dispute involves workers from the Servisair baggage handling company and centres on two matters: workloads for baggage handlers and maintenance workers; and the alleged “victimisation” of a union steward.
The website reports that members of the Transport and General Workers Union will also walk out on 30 September if a suitable agreement is not reached.
As reported, there is still a serious threat of a strike at Heathrow this weekend; the planned 48-hour strike is by workers at the refuelling firm AFS.
